My Thoughts: WWE and TNA

As I had mentioned in my introductory blog, I love professional wrestling. It has always been my favorite T.V. show. Be it, WWE, the defunct WCW or TNA. I couldn't/can't wait to view their weekly programs. It is just good entertainment and I can't get enough.

In the beginning:

WWE:

A fan since 1987, I lived and breathed Hulk Hogan. I almost literally bled red and yellow. I was, also, your classic wrestling fan, loving the faces (good guys) and hating the heels (bad guys). Every X-mas and Birthday I received wrestling paraphernalia. From action figures to pajamas to underwear, that's all I asked for.

The '80's and early '90's were a great time for wrestling. WWE had awesome wrestlers and great story lines. I buy many of the DVDs that WWE releases and those characters and matches are still amazing to watch.

As time wore on, Hogan left WWE and Bret "Hitman" Hart was THE guy. He was MY guy. Still is too, Bret Hart and The Undertaker are tied for my favorite wrestler of all time. Their characters, quality of work and longevity are paralleled by few.

Then came the attitude era. It was edgy, wild and unpredictable. A new generation of wrestlers emerged. Those guys were doing the coolest and craziest stuff in and around the ring. Is it any wonder that WCW folded? WWE had better story lines, younger more athletic wrestlers and took women wrestlers to a whole new level. Another great time to be a wrestling fan.

TNA:

I first started to watch TNA in '06. I thought it was kind of boring, to be honest. I'd watch every now and again to try and keep up with what they were doing. I kept watching because I LOVE the wrestling business. I think wrestling is an art form. I couldn't make myself just not watch another night of wrestling a week. So, once I started to get to know their wrestlers and become familiar with their product, I watched every week.

I have a great appreciation for TNA and what they are doing. They have young, hungry wrestlers. Their talent can put on a show like nobody's business. It is really something to watch those guys and gals paint, if you will.

Women Wrestlers:

WWE:

In the late '90's, WWE brought back women's wrestling. They hit the ground running and haven't lost any momentum. There are some things that need to change, though. I hate the pillow fighting and jumping around in their underwear. I watch wrestling to see wrestling, not that. Yes, they are EXTREMELY hot, but they can do so much more than just tease the male audience. This is really just a moot point now. Since WWE has gone in their "kid friendly" direction, they just wrestle. That's the only good thing to come from the "kid friendly" thing. More on that later.

The other thing that needs to change is more air time for the "Diva's", as they are affectionately known. They are only out there for five minutes or so. I've watched tag team matches where all the competitors don't even get the chance to wrestle. They just stand on the ring apron. WWE has some phenomenal talent on their hands. I just don't want to see it wasted.

TNA:

They know what to do with their wrestlers. They are still sexy as hell, but are getting more air time. Most important of all, they are well respected. These athletes are having amazing, physical matches. TNA has also given them a tag team division. Which proves that TNA has faith in their talent. I'm really happy with what TNA is doing with their women's division.

Kid Friendly:

WWE:

I hate censorship. Wrestling is a physical, violent sport. The way wrestling was, is no worse than MANY video games. Kids are splattering pedestrians all over the sidewalk with cars and guns, or blowing up mutant aliens and zombies. Seriously, who cares? So why change wrestling?

Evey time a wrestler bleeds, they stop the match and a referee seals up the cut. Ridiculous!! If anything, seeing a wrestler bleed will deter them from trying it at home. Maybe it won't, but this sucks.

TNA:

Smash-mouth wrestling, blood, broken furniture, sexy chicks beating the hell out of each other....that's wrestling.

INNOVATION:

WWE:

WrestleMania, Survivor Series, the Royal Rumble Match, Casket Match, Iron Man, Hell in a Cell, Elimination Chamber, ect. Only praise for WWE and their innovation. The latest thing they've done to shake things up is have concept pay-per-views (PPV's). Extreme Rules, for example. Every match on the card has a stipulation. It's a street fight or cage match or Falls count Anywhere, ect. I love it.

TNA:

They have been innovators from the word, "go". The six-sided ring, the X-division, the LockDown PPV, Ultimate X, the Lethal LockDown match, Monster's Ball, King of the Mountain, ect. Only praise for TNA as well.

Both companies are constantly trying to better themselves and give the fans more than they paid for.

So, these are my thoughts on WWE and TNA. I truly love pro wrestling. You should check it out sometime.

My Thoughts: The Death Penalty Continued

I've been conversing with people and doing a lot of thinking about the death penalty lately. I have not and will not change my mind about my previous blog. Nothing will ever sway my opinion. However, I believe that more crimes need to be categorized under the penalty of death.

Let me just say that I am not a violent person. I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but if you are the one doing the hurting, the gloves are off. You waive your right to be treated fairly. The point I'm trying to make, before I get into this, is that I don't love death and destruction. I'm passionate and logical. I would love for the world to be roses and butterflies and all of that shit, but it's not going to happen. So, the "people" who want to ruin life for everyone else need to be eliminated.

With that said, I believe that rapists and pedophiles need to be sentenced to death. These monsters are worse than murderers. They are the epitome of evil. When they are done, the victim has to try and go on with life. In the case of pedophiles, many of their victims are abused daily. That is worse than death. When you're dead, you're dead. No one can hurt you anymore. Your pain and suffering are over. Not these people. Their hell continues on forever more.

The laws in this country make me sick. These worthless sons of bitches barely get a slap on the wrist. Law makers should be ashamed of themselves.

I can't believe that there hasn't been some sort of uprising over this. Americans just don't care anymore. We've gotten extremely lazy. People say that they care about certain issues, yet do nothing about them. It's very sad.

I stand by what I said in the first Death Penalty post. This time around, I'm just adding rapists and pedophiles to the mix. I'm not going to sit here and beat a dead horse. If you aren't fully aware of what I'm referring to, read the original post.

Choose a Style That Never Fades

As a man, it's hard to know what to wear. Is it trendy? Am I doing to look stylish? Will women flock to me if I'm wearing it? It's a tough decision!

What's a guy to do when he doesn't have a personal stylist or a wife with great fashion taste who is willing to lay out his outfit every day? That's where Hawaiian shirts come in! A style that is timeless is rare, but that's what you get when you throw on a Hawaiian shirt. I can choose something that matches my personal taste (like a beer bottle theme) or go wild and have a floral theme. There's every color imaginable, so I don't have to think of little things like my clothes matching either!

In a perfect world, we'd all live in Hawaii. We'd be soaking up the sun on a beach, sipping straws leading to a delightful flavored drink inside a coconut. Beautiful women would see me, point me out to their equally beautiful friends and admire my physique that is clad in a parrot themed shirt. I'd have no boss griping at me, no wife nagging and no kids expecting to have their diapers changed.

Alas, sometimes this world is not perfect. I can only make it seem a little more so by donning the clothes that will help me feel like I'm in that tropical paradise, surrounded by splendor. And when I stop at the water cooler, maybe Sally from accounting will admire my physique... and my great Hawaiian shirt.

Synopsis of "Retribution of The Wrestler"

In the world of professional wrestling, Johnny "the bull" Santoro is king. After an eight month death grip on the UCW championship, Santoro is restless. He needs competition and is obsessed with being the best ever. However, one man stands in his way.

After a pay-per-view match, Santoro calls out Kurt Cooper. Kurt is known as the very best wrestler of all time. If he beats Kurt, he'll finally be known as the best. Kurt has been retired for the past seven years. He's still young enough to wrestle, but isn't interested. Santoro just got the hopes of the fans up for possibly nothing.

The owner of UCW is very angry and threatens to fire Santoro if he can't get Kurt into the ring. With wrestling being Santoro's entire life, he'll do ANYTHING to coax Kurt into a match.

My Thoughts: Solution to the Economy Crisis?

I am not involved in politics, nor do I want to be. I'm not interested in kissing ANYONE'S ass. And I don't need to worry about tip-toeing around anyone so they'll vote for me next election. However, I think I have some pretty good ideas for turning the economy around. If you pay attention to my blog, then you know that I have already mentioned one idea in my "My Thoughts" on The Death Penalty.

First of all, I don't use drugs or frequent whore houses. I've never been arrested, either. My worst offense is being pulled over a handful of times for speeding. Don't get me wrong, I'm not perfect. I smoked weed in high school and drank underage. I want to point this out because I'm sure someone will just assume that I currently smoke weed.

With that said, I think we need to legalize marijuana. When I smoked, I never felt as impaired as I do when I'm drinking. That's a fact. I don't know if that was just me, but whatever. That's a plus, but doesn't have anything to do with the economy. So, the government will tax it. There's a lot of money rolling in. Am I right or am I right? Also, the government will manufacture it. Hmmm, I wonder how many jobs I just created. So, all the taxing will bring in money, unemployment plummets and A LOT of people can change their job title. They can change it from dealer to farmer. No more drug deals gone wrong, either. The government will also have to make sure that it's 100% pure marijuana. No more joints laced with whatever. Sounds like a win/win to me.

Alright, now let's legalize prostitution. How many women (and men? I'm not up on all of this) make truck loads of cash from prostitution? Oh, did I mention that it's TAX FREE?!? Let's organize this profession. No more street corners. Build establishments for this to go down. On street corners, these women are probably getting beaten, raped, robbed and who knows what else? That's a step in the right direction. A lot of construction workers will be employed in the process. Sounds like a winner so far. Let's continue. The next thing in my brilliant plan is that EVERYONE will have to be checked for STD's!! The women and their "John's". Yeah, sure this will be a huge pain in the ass for a lot of people, but the end result will be phenomenal. I get that business will be quite slow until everyone gets the okay from the doc, but once it's up and running....business will be unbelievable. Instead of scoring one or two guys a night, they'll have appointment books backed up for months. You do realize that most men don't think with their brains, right? Seriously....backed up for months. Think of all of the new job openings for doctors, secretaries, janitors and probably some other folks that I can't think of right now.

Love it or hate it, this is just good business.

Angel of Death

Expiration is so immanent
Time is drawing near
Burning like a cigarette
You have no fear

For you haven't a clue
That he is around
Comes only for you
He won't make a sound

This is your last day
It's everyone's fate
He's on his way
And won't be late

"Why are you here?"
Muttering your last breath
"It's almost over, Dear
I'm the Angel of Death"

The Demon Within

Buried deep in the being
He hates without prejudice
Transformation, there's no control
The demon rises within

Created by hate
Housed in the psyche
Marred with confusion
Rage, his only friend

Personification of evil
Distancing those around me
Forever is the debt
To the sadness I wallow

Forcing back control
Never taken again
Master of my destiny?
Me, until the end

My Thoughts: Late Night with Conan O'Brien

After 16 seasons, we have to say good-bye to Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Conan is taking over The Tonight Show and Jimmy Fallon is taking his place at Late Night. All of this has promise, but my Late Night experience will never be the same.

I'm worried about just how much Conan will have to change to be on The Tonight Show. I know that the powers that be at NBC won't let him take The Masturbating Bear along. I hope he can stick with most everything that made him famous. I am very happy to hear that the entire Max Weinberg Seven will be joining Conan in L.A., though.

Two of Conan's skits are tied for my favorite. I LOVE, In the Year 2000 and The Interrupter. I will also miss, New State Quarters and Celebrity Survey. The James Lipton skits are unforgettable. The show is awesome. The whole thing. From beginning to end. I believe it's THE very best late night talk show ever.

Late Night with Conan O'Brien, thanks for entertaining us for 16 unbelievable years, I will miss you.

My Thoughts: The Death Penalty

An eye for an eye. I believe the best punishment for death, is death. This won't be popular with some or a lot of people, but don't quit reading yet. At least hear me out. My beef isn't with having the death penalty, it's with the costs of this system.

Some people will argue that life in prison is better because they'll have to spend the rest of their lives repenting and living in a horrible environment. You can't be serious. Where are all you religious folks at now? I would think that people of faith would love the death penalty. If these people die, they'll go to Hell, right? So, life in prison is worse than Hell? If my understanding of Hell is correct, I'd say Hell is worse. Maybe that's just me. And why would people want these monsters to be able to repent anyway? Yes, let's have them do WHATEVER they want, no matter how horrible and THEN give them the chance to beg God's forgiveness.

Why spend billions upon billions of dollars keeping these monsters alive? Kill them and get it over with. Here's an idea, how about we take the billions and billions of dollars and kick start the economy again?!? We could start some kind of program to help the homeless get back on their feet. Or how about our enormous national debt? What am I thinking? That's much too easy. Let's just let millions of Americans and their families suffer. Yep, sounds like a brilliant idea. Okay, I did a little bit of research, here's what I'm talking about:

1953 - 131 people under sentence of death (first year I could find)
2000 - 3601 people under sentence of death (highest since it's inception)
2007 - 3220 people under sentence of death (last year I could find)

At year's end 2007, the youngest person under sentence of death was 19. Oldest, 92.

1953 - 62 inmates executed
2000 - 85
2007 - 42

Just for California: "Using conservative rough projections, the Commission estimates the annual costs of the present (death penalty) system to be $137 million per year" - deathpenaltyinfo.org

Not impressed yet? Alright try this on. Again, just for California: "The additional cost of confining an inmate to death row, as compared to the maximum security prisons where those sentenced to life without the possibility of parole ordinarily serve their sentences, is $90,000 per year per inmate. With California's current death row population of 670, that accounts for $63.3 million annually." - deathpenaltyinfo.org

Look at all the money we're wasting. And that's just California. What about the other 49 states?
I believe the reasonable solution is to eliminate the people who have been on death row for decades. Clearly they're guilty if they've been there that long, ya know? So, I did a little more hunting and found that a 22 caliber bullet costs $0.38 a piece. You see where I'm going, don't you? Spend $0.38 on each inmate that has been on death row for decades. Say there are 1,000 inmates across the country that fit this criteria. Now, say that the average cost of death row compared to life without parole nation wide is $50,000. I just saved the country $50 million not counting the cost of bullets. These are probably low guesses as well.

On to the inmates that have been on death row for less than a decade. Take the $50 million that I just saved the tax payers and put it towards in-depth investigations to make sure that the inmates are actually guilty. The ones that might not be guilty, give them compensation and some kind of ceremony nationally apologizing for the mistake. Hell, I don't know. For the ones who are guilty....spend the $0.38. It would take a lot of time and money, but once we get the problem solved, it would work out for the greater good. It would only be a problem until we got through all the current death row inmates. We would have a better, less costly system for the future inmates.

Life with or without parole. Other than the horrific cost, is there really a difference between this and death row? I don't see one. If what you did is bad enough for tax payers to have to pay for the rest of your life, who needs you around? I don't. Because I REALLY want to pay for you to watch TV and lift weights your whole life. This is horseshit. Parole or no, if you are sentenced to life, I'll gladly spend the $0.38.

If this were a nationally accepted policy, many problems with the prison system would be forever eradicated. No one would be set free early because of over-crowding. Hell, no more over-crowding in general. And the amount of spending would be a fraction of a fraction of what we are spending now. I don't see how this can fail.

You're My Little One

I've been dreaming of you
Can't wait to finally meet you
Your image is locked in my brain
Anticipation driving me insane

Chorus

I wanna hold you
I wanna kiss you
To me, taking care of you won't be a chore
Daddy's here and will love you forever more

You can count on me, I am here for you
I will love you, no matter what you do
Whether the hard times, or the times of fun
Just remember that, you're my little one

I wonder what person you will be
I'll have to just wait here and see
I guess I'm getting ahead of myself
Don't wanna put your childhood on the shelf

Can't wait to hold you in my arms
Do my best to keep you from harm
Can't help but wonder if you will like me
I'll be the best dad that I possibly can be

Chorus

I wanna hold you
I wanna kiss you
To me, taking care of you won't be a chore
Daddy's here and will love you forever more

You can count on me, I am here for you
I will love you, no matter what you do
Whether the hard times, or the times of fun
Just remember that, you're my little one (repeat you're my little one twice)

I wrote this song after having this reoccurring dream of a baby girl. My first child, a girl, wasn't born until the end of 2005. Kind of weird....

My Thoughts: Bigotry

Few things annoy me more than an obtuse person. Narrow minds just rub me the wrong way. I don't know what makes someone this way. Do they have a chip on their shoulder? Is it the way they grew up? Is it just plain ignorance? I'll never believe the answers given anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. I don't think it's ever too late to change.

Racism for instance, an issue quite prevalent these days. Obviously because of last November's election. Does the color of a persons skin really matter? What shocks me, though, is the amount of racists that came flying out of the closet when Barack Obama's name first became known. Genuinely nice people too. It was quite disappointing. I'm not just talking about white people either. No, no, no. I was disgusted to hear black people say that they were only voting for Obama because he was black. Are you serious?!? That's JUST as racist as a white man voting for McCain because he was white!! I was fasinated by both men's biographies. After watching those programs, I had a great deal of respect for BOTH of them. So, that left me voting solely on their politics. From there I made my decision. It's 2009!! Racism should no longer be an issue. For that to happen, though, ALL races will have to drop it.

Homosexuality. Why exactly is this "wrong" again? And who cares if you were born or chose to be gay? I'm a white man married to a white woman, but I think Asian women are some of the sexiest women on the planet. No one's ever asked me if there was something wrong with my brain because of it. It's completely ridiculous. Goddamn it, somebody tell me why they can't get married. Wait, let me guess. It makes a mockery of marriage, right? Yeah, because straight people have NEVER done that. I totally get why they can't adopt, though. Gay couples are gonna raise gay kids. Ya know, just like straight couples ONLY raise straight kids. Also, every child has to have a mother AND father in their life to make them well-rounded. Come on, Barack Obama would NEVER have become the first black President without BOTH his parents. Wait a minute, President Obama and his dad lived....in different countries!! Get it?

Religion. Hey, I have a great idea. Let's persecute and murder people just because our beliefs are different. Yeah, because that's exactly what your God wants you to do. Man, religion makes me laugh. I can't help it. I don't think that's what your God had in mind, though. I know, I'm crazy, right? What am I thinking? That's not even logical. Yes, I'm a smart ass. I'm trying to make a point, though. I am NOT religious in the least. Hell, I don't even know if I believe in God, but I was under the impression that God was supposed to mean peace and understanding. Not death and hate. I also thought that you were supposed to love thy neighbor and all that. I find religious people to always be the ones to cast the first stone. I'm quite fond of the saying, "those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones". Get my point? You see, to me, religion is very silly. If you want to believe in all that, fine. Just don't push your religion on me. And keep it peaceful. Why do you people have to always be picketing sex clinics, or starting wars, or fighting the schools, or just causing general chaos? It's none of your business anyway. If your God had such a problem with all of this, He could do something about it Himself. Now why do people of faith always think that Atheists are devil worshippers? Is it just me, or are these people misinformed? The actual definition of Atheist is, "one who believes that there is no deity". Atheism and devil worship are complete contradictions to each other.

I can see how someone might take this as ME not being open minded. That's just because you're mad that I don't see it your way. I'm just kidding. The point that I am trying to make is, you don't have to hate or be forceful with your beliefs. Everyone's too serious about these issues. They don't even need to be issues. People keep making them into issues. It has to stop. What if you die for your beliefs and there's no God? What if there is a God and they're gay, or a different race than you? What if God is a woman (for all you sexists out there)? I hope you see what I am getting at. Enough is enough. It's time to grow up.

Allow Me To Introduce Myself

My name is Nick Piersee. I chose this particular medium to get myself and my work out there. I also wanted to share my thoughts of the world. Be it everyday life or subjects of a little more depth, I have interesting ideas and views of the world.

I've always enjoyed creative writing and utilizing my gift. Everyone has at least one gift. I believe that my imagination is mine. As long as I can remember, I've had a very vivid imagination. For example, when I was younger, I played outside and with action figures like any other child. I played a lot differently than anyone else, though, I guarantee you. My favorite thing to do was play with my pro wrestling figures. My grandpa made me this awesome wrestling ring and I had just about every wrestler they made. I would write out the match-ups on paper and then those wrestlers would have their matches and so on. I kept all of that stuff. I have a few notebooks full of matches and storylines that I'd created. I thought at length about how the storylines would go and where to take "the show" next. That was my fun....creating. Like I said, vivid imagination.

I've wanted to be a professional wrestler since the age of ten. I LOVE pro wrestling. I watch both of the major companies that are on TV, TNA and WWE. I never miss a program. I don't just watch, I study it. I've been watching since the age of three, believe it or not. Now, though, I think I would make a better storyline writer than a wrestler.

Ideally, I would love to be a published writer. I would like to publish novels, books of short stories and books of my poetry. I would also like to create films. Some I might make from my books, while others would be original ideas. I just love to create. It's what I do.

Years ago, I went to a Young Writers Conference for a short story I'd written. It was cool to be asked to go. I never enjoyed school, though. I was always day dreaming. The classes that kept my interest were history and the ones that had a lot of creative writing assignments.

My brain is over-active. I'm always thinking of ideas. Be it for a film or a book or a pro wrestling storyline, I'm always thinking. I know with every fiber of my being that I am meant for more than just 9-5 work. To this point, I've had more jobs than most people have had in their entire lives. Work doesn't keep my interest. I'm still a day dreamer. I guess you could just call me, a dreamer.
